FELDA ULU Penggeli was named after a river called Sungai Penggeli which flows in the area, while Sungai Penggeli got its name because of the penggeli trees which grows around the river. The land was first explored in 1986 and was opened in stages. Initially, the villagers here did not have any basic facilities and worked on their palm oil plantation using a Share System. In this system, the settlers were not given their right to owning land and all income gathered from the plantation would be distributed evenly. But in 1989, the settlers were given the rights over the palm oil plantation which they were working on. Their income relied on their own hard work. Now, the settlers live comfortably and do not only enjoy water and electric supplies and communication, they also receive other basic facilities to complete their basic needs.
