The name Kampung Sungai Taka originated from the name of a bronze jar found in the tin mining machine around the 1960s. So that was how the name came about from the bronze jar. It used to be pronounced as Takar but as time passes, because of the Patani people’s dialects, it soon became Kampung Sungai Taka instead. Sungai Sedim which is about 15km long and has a strong current with rapids made it a perfect place for kayaking activities. There are always international kayaking competitions which take place there. There are also other unique activities such as mountain hiking through the forest trail to Gunung Inas, Gunung Bintang Utara, Gunung Bintang and Banjaran Bintang.
