Monkey’s Threat
M
ore than 5
hectares of agricultural land in Kampung Tanjung Buai are rubber estates that are
inherited from their ancestors. The villagers work on the estates themselves
and manage to reap moderate income from the harvests. Besides this, the rubber
estates covered about twelve hectares of the land area in Kampung Tanjung Buai.
Other cultivations in Kampung Tanjung Buai include two hectares of coconut plantation, five hectares of fruit orchards and sapodilla. Most often, the harvests are low and fruits are damaged by the monkeys. The villagers have tried numerous traps to catch these monkeys but the latter has become more intelligent and recognised the traps. They continue to be a menace and a threat to cultivation.
