Sang Kelembai or otherwise known as Sang Gedembai is a famous character in the Malay folklore. Folks claimed that Sang Kelembai was a spirit with supernatural powers who lived in the forest far away from humans. Sang Kelembai possessed the power to transform any object he greeted or cursed into stone. Apparently one day when Sang Kelembai was crossing Sungai Pahang he discovered an object blocking his way. This object was a sawar, a kind of traditional equipment used to catch fish. Annoyed because his journey was delayed by it, he cursed the sawar and it turned into a stone resembling its former shape. The name Kampung Batu Sawar is taken from this stone.
