The Kampung Kuala Menjing Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) had organised an annual visit to Kuala Lumpur on 17 July 2010. According to Azizan Taib, the Library Assistant of Kuala Menjing Rural Library, 40 participants took part in the visit. They included the Youth and Wanita members of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), Kuala Menjing branch. The one-day trip was aimed at fostering closer relationship among the members as well as an opportunity to visit places of interest in Kuala Lumpur. Preparations for the trip and transportation facility were handled by the JKKK.
Prior to their departure to Kuala Lumpur, the participants had assembled at the library compound at 9.00pm on 16 July 2010. Putrajaya was the first stop that the participants visited. They had the opportunity to perform their Subuh prayer at the Putra Mosque in Putrajaya. They captured the memories of their visit by taking photographs of interesting places. They also made a stop at Nilai, Negeri Sembilan and other parts of Kuala Lumpur before departing for Terengganu. The visit was seen as a recreational cum group holiday activity in an effort to strengthen camaraderie and cooperation among them. (KK6: 13 August, 2010)
Closed Football Championship
In early August 2009, the Kampung Kuala Menjing Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) organised a closed football championship which was held at the Kuala Menjing Football Field. The competition was opened to the locals and the response from the youth was very encouraging. On the day of the competition, about 400 locals and residents from the nearby villages had turned up to cheer the participating teams.
A total of 12 teams competed in the three-day event. The top two teams that obtained the highest points made it to the final. Among the referees for the games were members of the Village and Development and Security Committee (JKKK) as well as the Kampung Kuala Menjing Youth Chief. The winners received trophies and hampers as prizes.
According to Rosli Razak, Chairman of the JKKK, the competition has enabled the JKKK to identify potential players who will form part of the village football team. The 12 players of the winning team gained automatic selection as the village football team members that will be representing the village at the Hulu Terengganu District Level Football Championship to be held soon.
